Today we've
been doing a debate on animal testing (Should animal testing be banned?). I think the topic was interesting, but
the debate wasn't very good at the end. It has been a mess with the people for
and against and we haven't had enough good arguments. After the debate we've
been to the Gallo-Roman Museum by metro. We have taken a funicular which
reminded me to Lisbon's ones. The ruins were good, but the bad weather (It was
raining and very cold) has not helped. In the museum we have been given audio
guides to follow the exposition, but personally, I haven't learned much, only
some things about the origin of Lyon.
Then we've been to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière. It is in a
small mountain, so there are really beautiful views of Lyon from there but, as
there was fog, we haven't been able to see as much as you can see from there.
Then we've had free time to have lunch before meeting the teachers again at
Place des Terreaux. There, there was a demonstration against the new educative
reform (as in Spain). We've done a tour
around les Traboules following the instructions on a paper given to us by the
teachers. Les Traboules are narrow, covered streets or passages that people
used when they needed to move from one street to another if it was very cold. I
have really liked this activity, because you see the city itself: the streets,
the people, a bit of history... Even though the weather was not good because it
was raining (again), I have really liked this neighborhood of Lyon because of
the buildings, the small shops... Before getting to the Maison des Canuts, in
Croix-Rousse, we've been to a small square from where you also have wonderful
views of Lyon (I love this kind of places). In the Maison des Canuts a girl has
explained a bit of history about silk, which appeared in China around 3000
years BC and became popular in Europe in 550 AC. She has also explained us the
process to get the silk from the worn and how to wave it. We have watched a
practical explanation of this: the guide showed us how to wave drawings in a
flying shuttle, crossing different threats in a big portion of silk. Something
I have found interesting is that it took 25 years to restore Versaille's Palace
fabrics. After the visit to the Maison des Canuts we have directly gone home
because we were tired and it was very late (for French people).

Nos hemos levantado, duchado, desayunado, ido a la CSI y hemos hecho un debate sobre el uso de animales en experimentos. A mi me ha tocado e el grupo que estaba a favor aunque no he participado en el debate. En la votación del final han ganado los que estaban a favor. Luego hemos visitado un museo romano y hemos comido en las escaleras de una plaza un sándwich. Hemos ido a la Maison des Canuts que era un lugar donde te enseñaban el proceso de elaboración de tejidos de seda. Ahora estamos en casa y en un rato iremos a cenar a un restaurante con especialidades de Lyon para celebrar el cumpleaños de su padre que es mañana. De primero comí andouillette que era una especie de butifarra rellena de intestinos y de acompañamiento patatas con beigchamel y queso gratinado y de postre, panacota con frutos del bosque. Había a nuestro lado una pareja de españoles y la chica me aconsejó qué pedirme.
